Customs status of goods

Also called: Union goods · non-Union goods · customs status

The classification of goods as either Union goods, which are in free circulation in the customs territory, or non-Union goods, which remain under customs supervision until duties are settled or they leave. Türkiye uses the same distinction between serbest dolaşımdaki eşya and serbest dolaşımda olmayan eşya.

In practice

Goods moving between member states by sea or via a third country may need proof of their Union status, otherwise they are treated as non-Union goods on arrival.

Applies to: EUTürkiye
