Transit
Also called: customs transit · transit rejimi · Union transit
A procedure that lets goods move under customs control from one point to another, within a territory or between countries, without paying duties and taxes on the way. Union transit and common transit use the NCTS system and a guarantee; TIR is used for road transport across longer international routes.
In practice
Transit allows goods to be cleared at their inland destination rather than the border, which is why it is central to road and rail logistics.
