Commodity code
Also called: tariff code · product code
A general name for the code that identifies goods in a customs tariff. In the UK it means the eight-digit export code or ten-digit import code in the UK tariff; in the EU it is often used for CN or TARIC codes. It always builds on the six-digit HS code.
In practice
When a buyer or forwarder asks for the commodity code, check which country's tariff and how many digits they need before answering.
