TARIC

Also called: Integrated Tariff of the European Union · TARIC code · ten-digit code

The integrated tariff database of the European Union, managed by the Commission's DG TAXUD. It extends the CN code to ten digits and attaches all EU measures to it: duty suspensions, tariff quotas, preferences, anti-dumping duties, prohibitions and controls, plus additional four-character codes where needed.

In practice

Import declarations in the EU need the ten-digit TARIC code, and TARIC is where you find whether trade-remedy duties or licence requirements apply to a supplier's country.
