Tariff quota
Also called: TRQ · tariff-rate quota · tarife kontenjanı
A volume of imports that may enter at a reduced or zero duty during a period; imports above the volume pay the normal rate. Quotas may be allocated first come, first served at the moment of declaration, or through import licences issued in advance.
In practice
Once a first-come quota is exhausted, later consignments pay full duty, so timing of the declaration can be worth more than freight savings.
