About the Switzerland tariff

The Swiss Customs Tariff (Zolltarif, Tarif des douanes, Tariffa doganale), known as Tares, is published by the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG) in German, French and Italian, with an English version. Tariff numbers have 8 digits, written 0101.2110: the six HS digits and two Swiss ones.

The normal tariff is largely specific: duties are charged in Swiss francs per 100 kg gross weight rather than as a percentage of value. Industrial goods have been duty-free since 1 January 2024, so the remaining duties fall mainly on agricultural products. Preferential rates are shown by country group. Trade remedies, quotas and VAT are not included, and the BAZG publishes the data as non-binding.
