Customs settlement (uzlaşma)
Also called: uzlaşma · settlement
A Turkish procedure under the Customs Law that allows customs duties and administrative fines assessed by customs to be reduced or settled by agreement through settlement commissions, before or during litigation in certain cases. A settled amount cannot later be disputed through objection or court action.
In practice
Settlement can end a valuation or classification dispute quickly, but it gives up the right to challenge the assessment later.
