Binding Tariff Information
Also called: BTI · BTB · Bağlayıcı Tarife Bilgisi · EBTI
A written decision by a customs authority on the tariff classification of specific goods, issued on application. In the EU a BTI is valid for three years throughout the Union and binds both the authorities and the holder for goods matching the description. Türkiye issues equivalent decisions as Bağlayıcı Tarife Bilgisi under the Customs Law.
In practice
A BTI gives legal certainty for high-volume or disputed products, but it must be quoted on declarations and it can be revoked if the law or case law changes.
