Customs seal
Also called: seal · gümrük mührü
A fastening applied by customs, or by an authorised trader using approved seals, to a container, vehicle or package to prevent goods being removed or substituted unnoticed. Seal numbers are recorded in the transit or other procedure data.
In practice
A broken or mismatched seal on arrival almost always triggers an examination and possibly a customs debt.
