Dangerous goods declaration
Also called: DGD · IMDG declaration · shipper's declaration for dangerous goods
A document in which the shipper declares hazardous goods for transport, giving UN numbers, proper shipping names, hazard classes, packing groups and quantities under the rules for each mode, such as IMDG for sea, IATA for air and ADR for road. It is required in addition to customs documents.
In practice
Undeclared dangerous goods expose shippers to heavy penalties and can lead customs and carriers to stop entire consignments.
