Informal entry (Type 11)

Also called: entry type 11

A simplified US entry for lower-value shipments, generally up to USD 2,500, that does not require a customs bond and is liquidated at the time of entry. Certain goods, such as some textiles or goods subject to AD/CVD or quota, cannot use it regardless of value.

In practice

Splitting a shipment to stay under the informal limit can be treated as an attempt to evade formal entry requirements.
