Importer Security Filing

Also called: ISF · 10+2

A US requirement for importers to submit specific data, including seller, buyer, manufacturer, ship-to party, country of origin and HTS number, at least 24 hours before ocean cargo is loaded at the foreign port. Carriers file additional vessel data. Late or inaccurate filings may incur penalties.

In practice

Importers need data from their suppliers before departure, so ISF obligations should be written into purchase procedures.
