Post-importation costs

Also called: deductions from customs value · non-dutiable charges

Costs that are excluded from customs value if shown separately from the price, such as transport after arrival in the customs territory, construction or assembly after import, import duties and taxes, and certain financing charges. In the US, international freight and insurance are also excluded because value is on an FOB basis.

In practice

Separating these costs clearly on the invoice is required to exclude them; otherwise duty is charged on the full amount.
