Warehouse entry (Type 21)
Also called: bonded warehouse entry · entry type 21
A US entry that places imported goods in a CBP bonded warehouse, deferring payment of duty until they are withdrawn for consumption, or avoiding it if they are exported. Goods may remain in bond for a statutory maximum period and can be cleaned, sorted or repacked but not manufactured.
In practice
Duty is calculated at the rate in effect on withdrawal, which can be an advantage or a risk when rates change.
