Authorised Economic Operator

Also called: AEO · AEOC · AEOS · Yetkilendirilmiş Yükümlü Statüsü · YYS · CTPAT

A status granted by customs to operators that meet criteria on compliance, record-keeping, financial solvency and, for the security type, safety standards. In the EU it exists as customs simplifications (AEOC) and security and safety (AEOS); Türkiye has the equivalent Yetkilendirilmiş Yükümlü status, and the US counterpart is CTPAT. Mutual recognition agreements extend some benefits across countries.

In practice

AEO status brings fewer controls, reduced guarantees and access to simplifications, and some partners prefer certified suppliers.
