Buying commission

Also called: buying agent fee · alım komisyonu

A fee paid by an importer to its own agent for representing it abroad in purchasing goods, such as finding suppliers and placing orders. Buying commissions are not added to the transaction value, whereas selling commissions and brokerage paid by the buyer generally are.

In practice

Customs looks closely at whether a so-called buying agent is really independent of the seller, so contracts and evidence of the agent's role matter.
