Consolidation
Also called: groupage · LCL · grupaj
The grouping of several shipments from different shippers into one container or air consignment by a forwarder, covered by a master transport document from the carrier and house documents issued by the forwarder to each shipper. Customs filings may be needed at both master and house level.
In practice
In consolidated shipments, one problematic house consignment can delay the entire container at customs.
