Transaction value of identical or similar goods
Also called: identical goods method · similar goods method
The second and third valuation methods, which use the accepted transaction value of identical goods, or failing that similar goods, sold for export to the same country at or about the same time. Identical goods are the same in all respects; similar goods have like characteristics and are commercially interchangeable.
In practice
Customs databases of earlier import values are often used under these methods, so importers should be ready to show why comparisons do not fit.
