Tolerance rule
Also called: general tolerance · de minimis rule of origin · tolerans kuralı
A rule allowing a limited amount of non-originating materials that do not meet the product-specific rule to be used without losing origin, typically up to 10 or 15 percent of the ex-works price or weight depending on the agreement. Textiles often have their own tolerances.
In practice
Small foreign inputs, such as a component or an additive, may be covered by tolerance and spare a full redesign of the supply chain.
