Product safety and inspection (ÜGD)

Also called: ÜGD · Ürün Güvenliği ve Denetimi · ithalat denetimi

The Turkish framework for checking that imported products meet technical regulations and safety requirements, run by the Ministry of Trade's General Directorate of Product Safety and Inspection and other competent bodies. It is based on yearly product safety communiqués that list GTİP codes, required documents and inspection methods, carried out through TAREKS.

In practice

Whether a GTİP is listed in the year's product safety communiqués decides if conformity checks are needed, so classification also affects inspection obligations.
