Sanctions

Also called: restrictive measures · yaptırımlar

Measures adopted by states or the UN to influence or constrain specific countries, entities or individuals, including asset freezes, import and export bans, financial restrictions and travel bans. The EU, UK and US each have their own regimes, which overlap but are not identical.

In practice

Sanctions apply to the parties as well as the goods, so a lawful product can still be prohibited because of who ultimately receives it.
