Verification of origin
Also called: origin verification · sonradan kontrol talebi
A procedure in which the customs authority of the importing country asks the exporting country's authority, or in some agreements the exporter directly, to confirm that goods covered by a proof of origin really qualify. Preference can be refused if the reply is negative or does not arrive within the deadline.
In practice
Exporters must keep production and supplier records for years, since verification often comes long after the goods were sold.
