Meursing code
Also called: agricultural component · EA · additional code 7xxx
A four-digit additional code used in the EU for processed agricultural goods such as biscuits, confectionery and some food preparations. It is derived from the content of milk fat, milk proteins, starch or glucose and sucrose, and determines the agricultural component of the duty that is added to the ad valorem part.
In practice
Food importers need recipe data from the producer, because the Meursing code can change the duty significantly.
