Port community system
Also called: PCS
An electronic platform that connects the parties operating in a port, such as shipping lines, terminals, forwarders, hauliers and customs, so that cargo and release information can be exchanged once and reused. Many PCSs link to the national customs system and single window.
In practice
Customs release often only becomes effective at the terminal gate once it is reflected in the port community system.
