Pre-lodged declaration

Also called: pre-arrival declaration · advance lodgement

A customs declaration lodged before the goods are presented to customs. It is accepted or processed once the goods arrive, which lets risk analysis start early and shortens the time goods wait at the border.

In practice

Pre-lodging is a common way to achieve near-immediate release for time-sensitive cargo, provided the data does not change after lodgement.
