SAFE Framework of Standards

Also called: WCO SAFE · SAFE Framework

A WCO instrument, first adopted in 2005, that sets standards for supply chain security and facilitation, including advance electronic cargo information, risk management, outbound inspections at the request of importing countries, and the Authorised Economic Operator concept. It underpins programmes such as AEO, CTPAT and ICS2.

In practice

AEO requirements and advance cargo filings around the world share a common origin in SAFE, which explains their similar data sets.
